Prepare for this year's ski season - tips from the guys at the workshop

The new winter season is approaching in our facilities.

Here is a small checklist of what you should think about before your first trip.

1. How do the edges look on the ski/snowboard?

Are they rusty, dull? Then they have to be sharpened.

2. What does the sole look like?

If it is completely dry, you will experience poor sliding and poorer turning properties. If there is any damage to the sole, it should be repaired. The skis should also be sharpened regularly.

3. Are the bindings set correctly?

Moving parts in the binding should get a little shower with lubricating oil or spray. For example WD-40. It is also important DIN based on shoe size, weight, height, skill level and age. There are guides for this online, but it can be an advantage to have this checked by a professional. Incorrect settings can lead to injuries. This is particularly important if you buy used equipment.

You should also check that the toe and heel of the sole are not very worn, as this can lead to the bindings misfiring, or that it does not release at all in the event of a fall.

We recommend not borrowing other people's equipment if you do not know how to adjust the bindings correctly.

It is also a good idea to regularly check children's helmets. It is important that it fits correctly.

Most of the points above can be carried out yourself. But we recommend doing this once before each season. Lubrication and grinding should be done regularly. Then you will experience much greater skiing/snowboarding pleasure. A tip to keep the edges free of rust is to dry the skis with a rag or the like. after each use. Remember to remove all snow from the top of the skis / boots first. Feel free to take an extra round over the steel edges with paper towels.

If you do not have the knowledge or opportunity to do the above points yourself, our Ski workshop in Wyller help you with. Also major repairs such as changing the sole or the steel edges.

If you want to start the season with new equipment every year, as a Skimore member you can rent alpine packages at a very advantageous price. You take this equipment home and use it as your own. Very beneficial for children in the growing period.
